FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are some of the FAQs we're often asked about holidaying at Cliffe House - if you have a question and the answer is not covered below please send us an email and we'll be happy to help.
1. What are the arrival and departure times?
In order to provide our cleaning team with enough time to thoroughly clean and prepare the property, we kindly request for you to check in no earlier than 4 pm on your day of arrival. For the same reason, we ask for you to please check out by 10 am on the day of your departure. We will always do our best to let you know if you’re able to check in early or depart slightly later depending on our scheduled bookings.
2. What is the check in procedure?
We will be in touch 14 days prior to your arrival with directions and check in details. You can reach us at any time should you have any questions by sending us an email or calling property manager Kieran directly on 07950994729.

3. Is Cliffe House dog friendly?
Yes! We love dogs and welcome one or two well behaved dogs. We just ask the following:
-
Dogs are not invited onto the beds.
-
If your dog is used to sitting on the sofa next to you, please only invite it up if the sofa has been covered with a clean dog towel, or a beach towel (which we provide).
-
Please dry your dog thoroughly and wipe paws after walks and before entering the house.
-
Please pack everything you require for your dog/s including beds, bowls and dog towels.
-
Please ensure you pick up all dog toilets from the grounds during your stay, and check before you depart.
Please note - due to the property's cliffside location, natural terrain, elevated features such as balconies, and the grounds not being fully enclosed, please ensure your dog/s are kept on a lead at all times in the gardens and on the walk down to the beach, as there are steep drops.
4. Is Cliffe House suitable for young children?
Cliffe House is ideally situated for a family seaside holiday. However due to the following factors, the property may not be suitable for young children. We've listed the main reasons below, and ask that you make your own judgement before booking:
-
Cliffe House features hard wooden floors throughout the property.
-
There are open staircases with gaps between steps, and no fitted stair gates.
-
There is a log burner in the lounge with no fireguard.
-
We do not provide travel cots, high chairs or toys.
-
The property sits on the cliffside in Lee Bay, and although the main terrace is fairly well enclosed, we cannot guarantee that there are no gaps. Children will need watching and supervising at all times.
5. Is there off-road parking at Cliffe House?
Yes, there are two parking spaces on the driveway.
6. What's provided for use during our stay?
We aim to make your stay at Cliffe House as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and therefore provide the following amenities and supplies:
-
Tea, herbal tea, instant coffee and sugar
-
Nespresso pods for the coffee machine
-
Oatly Barista milk for the coffee frother
-
Tea towels, oven gloves, washing up liquid & scourer, cooking oil
-
Washing liquid, fabric conditioner, iron & ironing board
-
Hairdryers
-
Towels & beach towels
-
Toilet roll, kitchen roll, soap bars
-
Logs, kindling & matches for the log burner and fire pit
7. What are the village amenities?
Our village has a brilliant friendly pub (The Grampus), and a Tea Room and gallery (open during the summer months). As there are no shops or convenience stores, it may be useful to either place a grocery delivery or plan a visit to our closest supermarket (Tesco) located in Ilfracombe, about a 10-minute drive away.
We have a great variety of restaurants close by, and are on hand to advise you should you need any guidance on the best places to dine. We’ve listed our favourites here, but please let us know if you'd like any specific recommendations in advance of your arrival to enable you to book.
8. Can I arrange for a supermarket delivery?
Yes, we can recommend ordering deliveries from Sainsbury’s or Waitrose and Partners. Please ensure you select a delivery time to arrive after your arrival, allowing extra time for delays, traffic or road closures on the day.
9. Is there Wifi?
Yes Cliffe House has Wifi which you're welcome to use during your stay. It is a good connection (the smart TVs use the Wifi to stream) but please note it may not cope if all guests are streaming on multiple devices at the same time!
10. What type of BBQ is provided?
There is gas BBQ provided for guest use.
11. Who do I contact if I have any questions before or during my stay?
Cliffe House is managed by local husband-and-wife team Kieran and Helen, who live in Woolacombe. Having lived in the area for many years (including Lee village for 6 years!) they know the area well and are on hand to answer any questions you may have, or provide recommendations for restaurants, activities etc. They can be contacted anytime by email or you can reach Kieran directly on 07950994729.
